Our Story
After spending our first 19 years together in subdivisions, we felt it was time for a change. We moved to a little piece of land in North Georgia, thinking a slower pace of life might be just what we needed. We were right!
Now we spend our days outside in the garden, working on the property, or just enjoying the back porch rocking chairs. Whether we’re cutting new trails through the woods, riding ATVs, or simply sitting under a sunrise, we’ve found joy in this place.
If you spend much time with us, you’ll quickly see what matters most: we love Jesus, we treasure relationships, and we never miss a chance to laugh. One of our friends got us a refrigerator magnet that says it all, "This house is built on love and shenanigans."
Why "Pasture Five"?
People often ask where the name came from. The truth? It started as an inside joke. Justin would tell the family he was “working in Pasture Five,” even though we didn’t have four other pastures! The girls would groan and argue that it made no sense. Friends got pulled into the debate too. Over time, “Pasture Five” became a playful family tradition.
So, when it came time to name our little business, the choice was obvious. It captured our love for fun, family, and life out here. What started as a running joke has become a name that reminds us of the joy (and shenanigans) we share every day.
Nigerian Dwarf Goats
Our Nigerian Dwarf Goats are the heart of Pasture Five. They inspired our goat milk soaps and lotions, and they’re very much part of the family.
Though small, these goats are bursting with personality. They’re social, playful, and always ready to jump, head butt, or nap in the sun. When we first brought them home, there was a lot to learn — but now we can’t imagine life without them.
Honey Bees
Another adventure we’ve loved is keeping bees. At first, we knew nothing. Justin read Beekeeping for Dummies, we sought advice from seasoned beekeepers, and then we jumped in.
Bees fascinate us with their teamwork and complexity. Their honey is wonderful, but the wax has also opened up a world of products — candles, lip balm, even wax wraps. They may not be as mischievous as the goats, but they bring us joy every time we check on the hive.
The Big Picture
Pasture Five is more than a farm — it’s a way to share what we love with others. We’ve discovered so much joy in creating and using the things that come from this land, and we don’t want to keep it to ourselves.
Through goat milk soaps, lotions, honey, and other handmade products, we get to offer a little piece of our story — and our pasture — to you.
